Lingueres Alliance for Women's Cancer Care

Empowering Women. Saving Lives. Building a Legacy.

We are a U.S.-based nonprofit mobilizing global support to build Senegal's first Women's Cancer Center—transforming the future of cancer care for women across West Africa.

Honoring the Spirit of the Lingueres

The Lingueres were legendary women leaders in Senegal, queens, counselors, and guardians of their communities. Today, we honor their legacy by standing for the health and dignity of African women facing cancer.

The LINGUERES Alliance for Women's Cancer Care is a global nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon. We exist to raise funds, build partnerships, and accelerate access to quality cancer care for women in Senegal and across West Africa.

Together, we are building a world where every woman, no matter where she lives, has the chance to survive and thrive.

Where a Woman Lives Should Not Decide If She Survives Cancer.

99%

U.S./Europe Survival Rate

Early diagnosis of breast cancer leads to survival rates of up to 99% in developed countries.

35%

Senegal Survival Rate

In Senegal, the survival rate for breast cancer drops dramatically to just 35%.

Cervical cancer tells the same story:

And yet… these cancers are treatable and survivable — when care is accessible.

Senegal Needs 28 Radiotherapy Units. It Has 3.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recommends a minimum of 1.5 radiotherapy units per million people, and ideally 4 units per million.

1

Current Reality

Today, only 3 radiotherapy machines are available nationwide — and most are concentrated in Dakar.

2

Minimum Need

With a population of 18.5 million, Senegal needs 28 machines to meet the basic standard.

3

Ideal Standard

74 machines would be required to reach global best practice.

This isn't just a shortage — it's a healthcare emergency. The Lingueres Alliance for Women's Cancer Care is here to help close the gap.

Why 'Lingueres'?
